IBM Learning Services embraces a scope of competency, which includes all services needed to assess, design, develop, deliver, administer, and evaluate performance improvement interventions.  Performance improvement interventions include a gamut of traditional and non-traditional learning approaches: instructor-led classroom, documentation, tutorials, job aids, mentoring, on-the-job training, as well as, technology-based electronic performance support systems (EPSS), computer based multimedia training (CBT) and web-based multimedia training (WBT).

  Education Consulting

Education Consulting includes the use of human performance and instructional systems development models to conduct job skills and task analyses; investigate organizational and individual needs for job-based performance requirements; determine competency and skills management strategies; and document causes of performance gaps.  Leverage for these interventions includes a variety of technology-driven and traditional methods, which may be applied individually or as a blended solution.  For example, the education consultant may determine that Web-based training (WBT), computer-based training (CBT), multimedia, or fully-integrated electronic performance support systems (EPSS) should be combined with instructor-led classes, documentation, tutorials, job aids, mentoring, or on-the-job training to create a blended solution that is delivered in both real and virtual classrooms.  Value for the customer results as our educational consultants conduct these activities in order to identify the need for a corporate learning strategy, organizational change, and/or job-based performance improvement interventions.

  Curriculum Design & Content Development

The scope of Curriculum Design includes: identifying specific audience needs; establishing objectives; analyzing corporate technology infrastructures and training delivery software and hardware; gathering media requirements; defining appropriate instructional delivery mechanisms; and choosing appropriate job-based training strategies.

Leverage is created as the practitioners use instructional systems design models to create the curriculum architecture for a particular design, blending technology-based solutions with traditional methods where appropriate, in order to target client business needs.

The value of this competency is that it enables IBM practitioners to define a coherent set of learning experiences for today's corporate adult learner that will operate effectively and efficiently in the intended environment, whether in a real or a virtual classroom, with or without instructors.

The scope of Content Development includes the creation of content for a variety of interventions and blended solutions that include: Web-based training and collaborative distance learning experiences; computer-based training, including multimedia presentations, electronic-performance support systems, instructor-led classes, and live, on-line collaborative learning experiences.

  Distributed Learning Technology

The scope of the Distributed Learning Technology competency addresses the need for the practitioners who possess specialized skills in network infrastructures (Intranet and Internet); information technology (I/T) training technology delivery requirements, and IBM and industry software application packages for training administration, delivery, and management in a distributed learning environment.

Leverage results when this expertise, in using the latest learning interaction, content development technologies and administration technologies, is applied to integrate technology-based content and applications for delivering state-of-the-art customer learning solutions, customized to their unique (database and network) environment and requirements.

Value results as practitioners apply their technological expertise to create distributed learning solutions, such as corporate virtual campuses, that operate globally while enabling workers to learn locally.

Instruction and Mentoring represents IBM Learning Services' ability to provide the most highly skilled Consultants, Instructional Designers, IT Architects, Course Developers, Project Managers, and Instructors to create environments, tools and information most conducive for learning.  The highest quality of education is accomplished whether the instructor is in the classroom, facilitating technology-based labs, or functioning as a mentor in a collaborative learning setting.  Our ability to transform and enhance subject matter expertise into a knowledge acquisition adds value for the customer.

IBM also offers a wide range of e-Learning programs aimed at helping companies provide high quality IT education while minimizing expenses associated with travel.  These standard e-Learning offerings provide great flexibility in delivering "just in time" education to the busy IT professional.

  Delivery Locations

IBM has several delivery locations in North Carolina designed to support our wide range of classes and curriculums.  IBM can also provide private training courses at any State of North Carolina site that has the facilities and equipment to support the specific courses being requested.  This includes any of the Community Colleges that meet the system requirements specified by the individual IBM course.  Listed below are the IBM sites and the State of North Carolina Community College locations.

When presented to the course instructor or conference registration coordinator, coupons must be completed with the name of the course or conference, coupon holder's name, company's name, date and attendee's signature.

IBM Education Pack coupons cannot be used for ILSN courses, or materials or courses taught by and ordered through Tivoli, Lotus Development, CommerceQuest, Network Associates and MQ Software.  IBM Education Pack coupons cannot be used to pay for e-learning, CBT (computer-based training) and web-based Internet tutoring courses.

  Education Card

The IBM Education Card provides unlimited training for one person for one year, for one price.  The cards are non-refundable and non-transferable.  With the IBM Education Card, you can attend IBM Learning Services public classes or conferences for a whole year for one flat rate.  That means you can get all the information and knowledge you need to enhance skills and save money at the same time.  The more classes you attend, the more knowledge you gain and the more you save!
